ATTAQUE DEVOLVER ( WEBLOG ARCHIVES )
________________________________________

When the whole weblog explosion happened, I opened a weblog called "Elusive Heaven". It lived on my former domain (ProjectMariko.net) until I lost that domain. The weblog kind of disappeared for a while, before reappearing on my (now expired) domain,"Twentyfour-Play.com". Then, there was a short stint at "Petite-Etoile.org" and "ThirdWish.org". Eventually, I just moved it over to EHnet and renamed it "Limitless Horizon". I've since given up on the weblog and instead converted to Livejournal where I still post, though I'm very prone to just neglecting the silly thing for months on end.

November 2001 (feat. David Usher)

This was an "okay" layout. Nothing really special about the layout, but I'm still shocked to read that my introduction paragraph blurb thing there says that I was nineteen at the time. HELLO ME SIX YEARS AGO LOL. I also recall that I had a hellish time trying to find a decent David Usher image to use on the layout, so I just settled for some picture from a live concert. The little "X"s in the top corner were my menu for... things. I used to like write stuff about me in separate sections, but I can't exactly remember what the menu said.

January 2002 (feat. Yaida Hitomi)

Ewww, I don't like this layout at all. Well, I don't mind the colours. And Yaida Hitomi is cool. But I just HATE those huge curly things on the sides of the text area! They're such an eyesore and don't blend in with the layout. The "Twentyfour-Play" text is also really big and clumsy. The little stars behind Hitomi there are some sort of menu thing -- I think the stars changed colours or something and some text appears. BEH. What an ugly layout. -__-;;

March 2002 (feat. Matthew Good)

Oh, Matthew Good. I liked your early music, but your recent music, not so much. I liked how this layout turned out, despite the fact that the menu content used pop-ups. But I think the pop-up sections look pretty neat anyway. After a while though, Matthew Good's gigantic head got on my nerves....

May 2002 (feat. random pixel art)

EEEEE! ♥♥♥! Another one of my favourite layouts. I'm not even sure what inspired me to make it, but I think I just couldn't find an image that I liked and said to myself, "Hey, I have an entire night to kill... let's burn my eyes out and make a layout that involves a lot of staring at my monitor!". I really never thought that grey/cyan/pink would work, but it did, and I just ADORE that menu on the side. You don't see it here, but those two images changed every time I made an entry -- the top image was a "weathercam" (it had pixelly images for sunny, cloudy, partly-cloudy, and rainy) and the one under it was a mock webcam (it had images like "working on sites", "eating", "playing a game", etc). It was such a fun layout! And plus, it had a ton of text space and was easy to read, which is a huuuge plus in my books.

June 2002 (feat. Takashiro Chizuna of Hitsuji No Uta )

Soooooo much pink! Despite that (or maybe because of it) I liked this layout a lot, and I really loved the artwork from Hitsuji No Uta at that time. The series itself was kinda morbid and creepy, but the artwork had this intensity that just pulled me in. There were some rollovers in the top left corner which led to the blurbs I always wrote, and I seem to remember that little throbbing pixel hearts appeared on rollover. I shamelessly use the pixel throbbing hearts thing on a lot of layouts, it's just a cute little thing I like to throw in here and there. Due to the shocking pink overdose, the text area is a little hard to read. I like how the text area is like a piece of notebook paper, ties in with Chizuna being in her school uniform.

June 2002 (feat. Yagami Iori of The King Of Fighters )

As mentioned above, the pink from the last layout made the text area hard to read, so I made a new layout in that same month, hoping to fix that mistake. And while I adore Iori images, this layout suffered from a HUGE menu on the left there. At first I didn't mind it, but as time went on, I just got tired of having those menu letters jump out at me. You can't really see it, but the text area also had a drop shadow on it which didn't play nice in certain browsers -- which made readability an issue once again in those browsers. And the text area was small, too. Sigh. Ah well, Iori was nice to look at for a while.

August 2002 (feat. Takashiro Chizuna of Hitsuji No Uta )

I totally adore the artwork from this series. There's just something about the eyes of these characters that are so compelling! Compared to the last two layouts, I was very pleased with this one. It was simple, easy to read, and had a reasonable text area. There's a slight texture on the background, but it's very faint -- which I liked because even though you didn't really see it at first, it did enhance the main image. Nothing much to say, except finally, a readable layout!

February 2003 (feat. Uzuki Shion & KOS-MOS of Xenosaga )

I was really into Xenosaga Episode 1 at the time I made this layout, so I was really wanting to use either Shion or KOS-MOS as the covergirl. I think it started out okay but I got lazy somewhere along the way -- I don't like how the main image doesn't really blend with the black background. It just kinda sits there. The text areas were okay and roomy, but again, I fell back on the dreaded drop-shadowing, which looked kind of horrendous on some browsers. There's nothing really bad about the layout, it's just very plain.

June 2003 (feat. random Aquarian Age artwork )

Ohh, another layout I love. ♥♥♥! The image I used came from the Aquarian Age trading card game and I just fell in love with it when I saw it. What's weird is that I made this layout in summer, but it's very winterish. The background pattern was very simple and the text area is gigantic. I like how the raven sort of pops off the main image area. The only nitpick I have about this would be that the "Limitless Horizon" and menu text is a little boring, but it's a very minor thing.

July 2003 (feat. Takashiro Chizuna of Hitsuji No Uta )

Sheesh, another Chizuna layout! I think some part of me still liked that other previous Chizuna layout, and I had a whole hard drive full of artbook scans, so I made another one. But even though the text area was simply gigantic and there wasn't really anything wrong with the layout, I still had this nagging feeling like something wasn't quite right about it. Everytime I posted, I would squint at the layout and wonder what it was that kept bugging me. I'm even doing it right now, as I'm typing this. Ah well, it was still a decent layout.

September 2003 (feat. my artwork! )

I used my own artwork on this layout, and I love how it turned out. Surprisingly, even with the pink checkerboard background, the main text area remained quite readable. Whenever I look at this layout, I always think to myself, why don't I draw anymore? Not much to say about this one, just that it's really cute and I like it a lot. :)

October 2003 (feat. my artwork! )

Yay, I used my artwork again! I love how the background of the main image is a big collage of all these sketches I did. It's a very simple layout which a huge text area (which I adore), and the best part is that little strip of black beneath image header -- it actually has random quotes from The Simpsons on it, and it changed every time you refreshed the page. I think I had like at least 30 different quotes on there, probably more for my own amusement than anything else. Why don't I draw anymore!

December 2003 (feat. random artbook scan )

Even though this layout had the most unreadable text EVER, this is still one of my "could have been" favourites. Aesthetically, I adore it. The hearts in the background, the shocking pink, the scan of the girl where I had to crop it because she was in a weird compromising position (well, the whole artbook was full of cheesecake shots -- beautiful art, but still oozing T&A). I've actually always wanted to redo this layout for EHnet, but I can never quite get the same thing to happen. It makes me sad that I only had this layout up for like a week or so. :(

December 2003 (feat. Earthbound sprites )

I actually thought this was a rather charming layout -- it was simple but not boring, considering it had no actual image on it. The only thing I put into the layout to spice it up was include a little blurb that spits out Earthbound quotes when you refresh. I love that game. I didn't think I could ever do such a simple layout, but I did it, and I was quite happy with it.

November 2004 (feat. Cappo-chan )

Just a simple layout of my very fat and lovely cat, Cappucino, or Cappo-chan as we call him. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, except for the fact that the right grey area (where some links and junk were supposed to be) was horribly tiny, so anything there was in tiny font, which is a pet peeve of mine. The funny part (to me) is that the picture I took of Cappo-chan was like during the first week that we got him, so he looks all thin and frisky. Nowadays, he's pretty fat and lazy, but he still puts up a good fight when you wiggle a piece of string at him. I still love him a lot though. :)

August 2005 (feat. Mayama & Ayumi of Honey & Clover )

I think this layout marks the last time I ever tried to run a weblog, because soon after this layout went up, I just threw my hands up in the aid and said FUCK IT IMMA GOING TO LIVEJOURNAL. Comment spammers were way out of control and virtually all my online friends had defected to Livejournal a long time ago. Which was a shame, because this layout was really lovely. I adore Honey & Clover, and I wish I had more time to stare and Mayama and Ayu. Incidentally, when I began making this layout, I really tried to just leave the background white -- for whatever reason, I just cannot make a layout with a plain white background, even though I like it when other people do it. I actually think it's very clean and elegant. But something in me just wants to throw a background on everything, so this is as close as I get to a plain, white background.

November 2005 (feat. Yamada Ayumi of Honey & Clover )

This is kind of a weird screenshot, but this was the first time I ever tinkered with Livejournal's ridiculous override system, and this was the only screenshot I had of this layout. I used the generator style, and just made it match the background and header that I made here. I was kind of disappointed that the previous Honey & Clover layout I made didn't last too long, so I made one for my Livejournal.

September 2006 (feat. Chocolat & Vanilla of Sugar Sugar Rune)

I liked this layout generally, but after a while, I ended up just getting rid of that second column where I put random stuff -- it was too much of a hassle to keep it updated. The header of Chocolat and Vanilla turned out pretty well, and were scanned in from my Sugar Sugar Rune manga. I especially love those curly things, they look elegant and not fat and blocky like a lot of those curly things are.
