GUERRA DE BAILE (
MARIONETTE ARCHIVES
)
________________________________________
Marionette was my second anime shrine, dedicated to Iwakura Lain of Serial Experiments Lain. The first time I watched SEL, I was totally captivated (and confused) by the series, so I decided to
make a shrine for its protagonist. It opened sometime in September 2000, and originally was hosted on Stas.net (a free webspace provider that no longer exists). It was chosen as one of Anipike's
Weekly Web Picks, and over the years has introduced me to a lot of die hard SEL fans. Many a wayward email about Marionette turned into several emails discussing and swapping ideas
about the series, which I enjoyed a lot. I've lost the first two layouts, but luckily was able to keep screenshots of the other layouts.

July 2001 (feat. Iwakura Lain of Serial Experiments Lain)
Sheesh, what an ugly layout! -_-; Talk about zero inspiration, haha. One of my layout pet peeves is when the main layout doesn't blend in with the background, and my cheap blurring back there completely smacks of half-assedness. The title text
is blocky and ugly, and I used like 7pt Verdana in the main text area. Even worse, the navigation doesn't have a rollover! I could just go on and on with how much I hate this layout, haha.

November 2002 (feat. Iwakura Lain of Serial Experiments Lain)
Another "mreh" layout. I made a huge mistake in putting such a strong texture in the text area, that it was almost impossible to read anything in that area. At the time, CSS dropshadows on text was all the rage, so I tried to use that to help with
the problem -- this turned out to be a mistake, because then people reported that the text was even harder to read. Boooooourns.

November 2005 (feat. Iwakura Lain of Serial Experiments Lain)
FINALLY A FRIGGING DECENT LAYOUT. I just couldn't leave Marionette with that hideous unreadable layout, so I had one more go at it and it finally turned out great. It looks kind of tiny and dark, but I love coffee colours and the text area is really
larger than it looks, and most importantly you can READ it! :D There's some rollover action at the navigation up top, very simple and grungy "x"s pop up. A much cleaner layout and one that I liked enough that I could leave it up for years and not
hate it. ^_^;
