This is just a fun little section that analyzes Nanami's wardrobe and appearance! Being the rich girl that she is, Nanami appears in assorted dresses and outfits all through the series -- why don't we take a look at her clothing and see what it says about her? ^_~;
Nanami's Duelist Outfit

This outfit is one of her more common ones, and is worn almost constantly once she becomes the acting student council president. As we can see, Nanami's choice of skin tight uniform tells us that our drama queen's none too modest about being a girl. ^__~; A military-esque inspired ensemble gives off the perfect "get your paws off my brother" vibe. The outfit is bright yellow, contrasted by accents of black, the colours of a bee, and also of incoming danger. Chic mid-thigh black leggings are set off well by almost dainty, heeled ankle boots -- someone who's obviously thinking of being fashionable. It's smart and just oozes with visions of royalty and authority -- perfect for our golden haired mischief maker...
Nanami's Ohtori Academy Outfit

A staple in the wardrobes of the female students of Ohtori -- Nanami wears her outfit with the same ankle boots as her duellist outfit. The puffy sleeved blouse and cyan skirt worn by every female in no way makes Nanami blend into the crowd, though. ^^;; Not much to say here, since it's everyday wear.....
Nanami's Evening Wear

Over the course of the series, Nanami hosts some parties at the grandoise Kiryuu mansion -- and every hostess wants to impress her guests. Nanami has some fondness for the colour yellow, and as we can see from the examples, ruffled accents. Ruffles often give the impression of wealth and decadence, and both dresses are form fitting and extrememly flattering -- dress number two even features a plunging neckline halfway down her chest. Floor length dresses give the impression of elegance, and coupled with some earrings, or a brooch, gives Nanami the "just walked out from the pages of a magazine" sort of perfection. I'll bet she spends hours in her room, getting her outfits just right...
Nanami's Athletic Wear

And now we move onto Nanami sports wear! During gym classes, students at Ohtori must change into gym uniforms -- and trust Nanami to choose something stylish or flashy. Example one shows us the basic gym uniform (very short shorts and a short sleeved top), only Nanami's wearing a cow print shirt, complimenting the "designer" cowbell choker around her neck. One must always strive to accessorize, after all. ^__~; Example two shows us a tennis outfit -- with a yellow shirt, surprise surprise. ^^; Rose blossom accents on the sleeves are a nice touch, and shows us that even while sweating it out, Nanami still does it in signature style.
Nanami's Sleep Wear

When Nanami heads off to bed, she's often seen in a nightgown of lavender colour -- complete with a ruffled front and a ribbon bow. The nightgown reaches down to floor length, and actually looks very comfortable. In contrast to her more flashy outfits, Nanami's night time wear is more subdued and conservative. Even outrageous dressers give in to comfort, sometimes.

And last, but certainly not least, we have some commentary on her facial features. The first thing that you'll probably notice is the wealth of blonde hair that she has. It falls past her shoulders, and it's very full and wavy -- Nanami's astrological sign is Leo, so it may not be too much of a stretch to say that her hair might resemble the mane of a lion. One of her defining features is the braid woven into her hair, that resembles a crown. This distinctive feature reinforces the impression of Nanami being imperious and elegant, and all the things that royalty are associated with. ^_^;
Nanami's hair actually tells us a lot about her character. She's always seen with that braid in her hair, signifying a sort of careful control and polished poise. But much later, when Nanami's relationship with Touga is questioned, we begin to see another side to Nanami -- a much more vulnerable and uncertain girl. During these moments of vulnerability, Nanami's braid is often not present. During her first duel with Utena, Nanami's braid was cut away -- perhaps driving the point home that she lost, and that a part of her perfect facade had slipped. Much later, we begin to see Nanami with her hair down at night. Whenever Nanami's feeling vulnerable or uncertain, we often see her with her hair down, a visual confirmation that she's feeling helpless and alone.
Her eyes are a dark violet, almost black. That might tell us that like her dark eyes, it's hard to read what she's really thinking. What really strikes me is the fact that she seems to have no white area in her eyes. It makes me pay attention to her eyes more, and for some reason, gives me the impression that she's not to be trusted too much. Her eyebrows are well defined and arched at an angle that gives her face a look of determination. Definitely someone who's very polished and schemes a lot. ^^;;;
She also has a very high forehead, because her bangs are swept back from her face. It adds to the overall "polished" vibe. I'd also say that her facial shape was very defined and rather sharp, but that's more of a characteristic of all the SKU characters, not just Nanami.
