Kiryuu Nanami Suzuki, Yamada, Tanaka

Every popular girl has a few admirers -- and Nanami, being the beautiful Kiryuu that she is, has her share. Most notable are three young men named Suzuki, Yamada, and Tanaka. This hapless trio send Nanami endless love letters, which of course are ignored, since Nanami only has her eye on Touga. Still, you have to give these three credit for persistency. They are appear all around Nanami: in episode 16 ("The Cowbell of Happiness"), these three are found in cow costumes, just so they can be around Nanami. They also don't like the fact that Tsuwabuki was chosen over them -- when they discover this, they confront Tsuwabuki and fight him. Oddly enough, they lose to Tsuwabuki, not adding much to their appeal.

Suzuki, Yamada, and Tanaka aren't important characters -- as far as I can tell, they represent the common high school boy, infatuated with someone whom they can't have (if you think about it that way, aren't they foils to some Utena characters?). These three are as average as they come, with identical, unassuming faces, brown hair and thick glasses. The strangest thing about these three (other than the fact that they sing when they pop up) is that they can't seem to function individually, to the point to making synchonized movements and finishing each other's sentences. If these three are a sampler of the "average" young man at Ohtori Academy, no wonder Nanami fell for her brother...
